Just updated our Etsy shop with some new pieces.

 

 I've found it very relaxing and therapeutic making these wallhanging/dreamcatchers, especially during the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. I can zone out, get comfy and make something beautiful. Instead of yelling abuse at my machinery, snapping needles, being extremely un-comfy and whatever other perils that come with sewing.

 

The feathers used are all ethical, cruelty free. Collected especially for me by my sister and her lovely neighbour from their farms. The shells used are recycled from old broken necklaces and belts.

 

 

 

 

I do have to say though i'm looking forward to getting my clothing designs into production once again!

A few simple little pieces i've been working on.

dreams

firstly, happy new year! 

Progress has begun on the shop makeover, i've been madly designing new swing tags and logos etc along with a few clothing designs. I've finally found some inspiration and feel excited about the future. It's still quite a while off though, but hoping to have the online shop stocked with a few items by winter.

I got all crafty yesterday and made a little present for our new home (we still haven't got in there yet!).  My inner maternal spirit is in overdrive and all i want to do is nest and be homely with my growing family! 

I picked up all the items for this dreamcatcher/wallhanging from my local op shops, and a few odd pieces i had lurking in my bead box.

tick tock

I've been gathering ideas, creating and stock piling for CALABASH DESIGNS massive relaunch. Going through what i can actually do with my limited space and lack of materials/machinery. I have to say, I'm rather chuffed with my abilities. 

Things might not be ideal at the moment, but it doesn't mean production stops. I still have a hammer and pliers, so leather work is in. I still have my domestic machine, so bags and small purses are in ( i could do more but trying to find a space big enough to cut more than half a meter of fabric gets difficult!)

I'm still making and selling my backpacks at a local shop to keep me from going insane while my brain festers up new designs for the relaunch. They have been selling really well which makes me super happy. Here is one that sold recently.

Not long now til I'm back in full swing

It's that time of year again! Is it just me or does Christmas seem to come around a lot quicker the older you get?

We are going super low key this year - as in no gifts! booooo bah humbug! But if i had my way i'd be getting something from each of these independent designers, they all rock my world with their talent! taking a break!

I'll be taking a break from CALABASH for a while, just until my circumstances have changed and i can put 100% back into my work. I'm off to be a proper grown up! Making babies and buying real estate. Hopefully i wont be off for more than a few months, so the shops are shut and the Facebook page is no longer.

You can still keep up to date with my creative endeavors on this blog, my tumblr and Instagram (@calabashasha). I'm going to use this time to regroup and make CALABASH what i've always wanted it to be.
